Black November: A Turkey’s Lament

Black November: A Turkey’s Lament

When I was a young turkey, new to the coop,
My big brother Mike took me out on the stoop,

Then he sat me down, and he spoke real slow,
And he told me there was something that I had to know;

His look and his tone I will always remember,
When he told me of the horrors of ….. Black November;

“Come about August, now listen to me,
Each day you’ll be thick, where once you were thin,
And you’ll grow a big rubbery thing under your chin.

“And then one morning, when you’re warm in your bed,
In’ll burst the farmer’s wife, and hack off your head;

“Then she’ll pluck out all your feathers so you’re bald’n pink,
And scoop out all your insides and leave ya lyin’ in the sink,

“And then comes the worst part” he said not bluffing,
“She’ll spread your cheeks and pack your rear with stuffing”.

Well, the rest of his words were too grim to repeat,
I sat on the stoop like a winged piece of meat,

And decided on the spot that to avoid being cooked,
I’d have to lay low and remain overlooked;

I began a new diet of nuts and granola,
High-roughage salads, juice and diet cola,

And as they ate pastries, chocolates and crepes,
I stayed in my room doing Jane Fonda tapes,

I maintained my weight of two pounds and a half,
And tried not to notice when the bigger birds laughed;

But ’twas I who was laughing, under my breath,
As they chomped and they chewed, ever closer to death;

And sure enough when Black November rolled around,
I was the last turkey left in the entire compound;

So now I’m a pet in the farmer’s wife’s lap;
I haven’t a worry, so I eat and I nap,

She held me today, while sewing and humming,
And smiled at me and said “Christmas is coming…”

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving

Today is a day where we hopefully focus on being thankful and appreciating the things in our lives – both big and little – all of which makes our lives
worth living. But what about tomorrow? If you really want to learn the lesson of Thanksgiving then it is essential — actually it is critical — to adopt
a Thankful attitude in your life.

When you focus on your God given gifts and appreciate what you have been given, you are leading a Thankful life. When you get up in the morning and jump
out of bed and are thankful you are alive, that is leading a Thankful life. When you sincerely are grateful for your health, for your family, your friends,
your job and sustenance, you are leading a Thankful existence.

Dont worry, it is OK to want more than you have especially if your value system is healthy and you want more so you can do more to help others. But dont
forget to be Thankful when things are going well for you and even when they are challenging. Perspective brings happiness in your life, and the right perspective
brings meaning into your life. So tomorrow morning after waking up, dont complain you have eaten too much — thank God you had a great meal and then go
to the gym.

Turkey Time

Turkey Time

A game warden was driving down the road when he came upon a young boy carrying a wild turkey under his arm. He stopped and asked the boy,

“Where did you get that turkey?”

The boy replied, “What turkey?”

The game warden said, “That turkey you’re carrying under your arm.”

The boy look down and said, “Well, lookee here, a turkey done roosted under my arm!”

The game warden said, “Now look, you know turkey season is closed, so whatever you do to that turkey, I’m going to do to you. If you break his leg, I’m
gonna break your leg. If you break his wing, I’ll break your arm. Whatever you do to him, I’ll do to you. So, what are you gonna do with him?

The little boy said, “I guess I’ll kiss his ass and let him go.”

Ezzy’s Joke of the Day: Watch What You Order

Watch What You Order

A little old man shuffled slowly into an ice cream parlor, crawled painfully
onto a stool, and ordered a banana split.

The waitress asked, “Crushed nuts?”

“No,” he replied, “it’s just arthritis.”
